Get "Stylisted"

Just when you think you've seen it all, something comes along to make you realize there is a surplus of creative and innovative people with fabulous ideas. The latest fabulous idea? TheStylisted . Founded by friends Julia Carmona (inset) and Lauren Katzberg, TheStylisted is a resourceful new website that caters to hair and makeup stylists and people who need to conveniently book their services. It officially launched in June of 2013 and I recently asked Julia more about this startup.  Julia Carmona LL: Where did the idea for TheStylisted come from? JC: TheStylisted came from a personal pain point. Lauren and I had a number of formal events and often wanted the help of skilled experts to go beyond our normal beauty routine. (Nowadays, every photo ends up online, right?) But we were frustrated with the available options. We had two main issues: 1. Timing : Constrained by a narrow window of time before the event, we were constantly running to and from the salon, or...

Carrie Me Away

She won the 2005 American Idol crown after impressing Americans with her contemporary style of country singing. Now Carrie Underwood is making waves in the fashion world. Her style is often casual and down to earth but you can sometimes find her dazzled up, even when she's not hosting an awards show or putting on a show of her own. In this look, Carrie sports casual skinny jeans with a pop of fun in the layered shirt and toning it down with some high heeled sandals. She tops off the look with a casual wristlet and some small, sparkly stud earrings. So how can you get this look without breaking the bank? Try these comparable pieces to create a complete look, all for just $120! *Dorothy Perkins high waist jeans, $39 *Chiffon blouse from H&M, $24 *Dorothy Perkins peep toe sandals, $35 *Blue Mossimo wristlet from Target, $17 *Charlotte Russe rhinestone stud earrings, $5

Brand Spotlight: Day2Night

I recently had the pleasure of connecting with Candice Cabe, founder of the convertible fashion company, Day2Night. The focus of the brand is on convertible fashion products- which all started with the Convertible Heels . One shoe with five different heel heights, the Convertible Heels make traveling easier for women on the go! Transform your look from "day2night" by adjusting the snap-in heels to various heights. It's like getting five pairs of shoes in one box! Watch the video clip below to see how the heels convert. Cabe also created the Versafinity Scarf , which converts into three different products. Below I am wearing it as a scarf, a neck cowl and a shawl. One piece that easily transforms to change your look in seconds! And it is super soft and cozy! Available in black, tan and white.   One of my favorite Day2Night products is the Convertible Ring that changes into a hair elastic. Stylish but practical, with several cute designs...

The Summer to Fall Transition

Now that Summer is over and Fall is upon us, it's time to try and make one last use of our favorite Summer pieces. You can still wear may of them well into Fall by changing the items and accessories that you pair them with. Below, I used a red sleeveless top for both a Summer look and a Fall look. I changed the bottoms, shoes and accessories to show how you can easily transition from a Summer look to a Fall look by using the same top. For the Summer look, I paired the red shirt with a cute blue polka dot skirt and some red sandals. I kept the jewelry relatively simple and threw in some sunglasses to really capture the Summer feeling. For the Fall look, I updated to a pair of jeans, low cut boots, a cardigan, scarf and some heavier jewelry. You want to add pieces that you can easily remove if needed, and you don't want anything too heavy. Jeans are light, cardigans are removable and low cut boots don't make you too hot in the Fall. The scarf is a nice touch in the evenin...
