Women of Winter

Since we are officially in the Winter season, I wanted to focus on women whose color palettes are Winter. Every woman's coloring determines what season she is- Spring, Winter, Summer or Autumn. I use the Color Me Beautiful books as a reference.

Here are some defining traits for Winters:

*Hair color is jet-black, brown black, silver, white, medium to dark brown with ash highlights
*Hair will have no red highlights
*You are not a Winter if you are a blonde
*Skin tones are porcelain white, beige, rosy beige, olive, cool beige, almond, cocoa, mocha, mahogany, ebony to black with blue or reddish undertones
*Many African Americans, Asians, Native Americans, Latinas & Middle Eastern women are Winters
*Deep, dark eye color, including black, black brown, cool hazel with blue or green, dark blue, gray-blue, gray-green or charcoal

Not sure if you are a Winter? Here are some celebrity Winters. If your coloring resembles these beauties, and you have the traits listed above, then you are a Winter.

Each season has colors that work best for makeup and fashion. For Winters, here are some of the shades that are best.

For light skinned Winters, the best shades for eyeshadow are medium to dark grays, medium to dark plums and medium to dark teals. For dark skinned Winters, use deep grays, plums or teals. I suggest using mark.'s i-mark eyeshadow in Plum Velvet or Storming.

Complimentary lip colors for light skinned Winters are hot pinks, rubys, bright reds and plums. For dark skinned Winters, choose black cherrys, medium purples, deep pinks or rich reds. A few good options are mark.'s Lipclick Lipstick in Pink Icing, Cha Cha or Whiney.

Moving on to the fashion side of the Winter color scheme, here are two ensembles that encompass some of the main colors from the Winter color palette. You can find additional colors by visiting the Color Me Beautiful website. The website offers color samples that you can purchase and carry with you, as well as books with detailed information about all of the seasons.
