Top 5 Red Carpet Looks From The 2017 Golden Globes

Another awards show, another red carpet. That's the reason to watch awards shows, right? This year I paid extra close attention to what Hollywood's leading ladies were wearing, noting the colors, fit and textures of their dresses. I used the guidelines from my recently launched website, The Style Spectrum, to make (most of) my determinations. These are the 5 looks that got the highest marks from me, and why they caught my eye.

A woman with Kristin's delicate spring coloring should not usually wear black, at least not near her face. However, she looked stunning in her plunging neckline and sequin gown. It was fitted perfectly to her tiny frame, and drew attention to her waist. The only thing I would have liked to see is a gorgeous piece of bling dangling from her neck to really made her sparkle.

This yellow color looks amazing with Reese's mesmerizing blue eyes. Her soft pink lips keep her looking natural, and her dress draws attention to all the right places. Her choker is the perfect dose of dazzle, and she looks classy and elegant. Her hair looks lovely, but she could have softened the edges of her heart shaped face by letting her hair down a bit more.

While the off-the-shoulder trend is not as hot as it was last year, Thandie still rocked it like a true lady. Copper is going to be one of 2017's color trends, so the sequins at the bottom of her dress catapulted her look straight into the style books for this year. A simple diamond necklace was all she needed to complete her beautiful ensemble.

Technically, Felicity broke one of the main rules of style by wearing gold and silver together. But she made up for it with the way her jumpsuit accentuated her waist and how she kept her look simple. The low cut neckline was sexy without being trashy, and the ensemble fit her body really well.

At first, Zoe didn't make my list. Then I gave her a closer look and her gown really grew on me. While the ruffles seem a bit much at first glance, they're actually quite exquisite! The bow at the waist creates a more balanced body image, and the different textures come together wonderfully. This is how you do monochrome, even when the color of your dress isn't your best shade.
