Polka Dot Peplum

I don't know about you, but I'm SO ready for spring! Even though we had a mild winter this year, I'm looking forward to breaking out those lightweight pieces and fun colors! I incorporated a small dose of spring colors into my look today with this polka dot peplum top.   Since I wanted the focus of my outfit to be on the top, I kept the rest of my look simple by going with all black pieces and no jewelry or accessories. Stretchy black pants and a pair of cut out heel sandals completed my look, making it simple, yet chic. Have you started updating your wardrobe for spring yet? Top 5 Red Carpet Looks From The 2017 Golden Globes

Another awards show, another red carpet. That's the reason to watch awards shows, right? This year I paid extra close attention to what Hollywood's leading ladies were wearing, noting the colors, fit and textures of their dresses. I used the guidelines from my recently launched website, The Style Spectrum, to make (most of) my determinations. These are the 5 looks that got the highest marks from me, and why they caught my eye. However, she looked stunning in her plunging neckline and sequin gown. It was fitted perfectly to her tiny frame, and drew attention to her waist. The only thing I would have liked to see is a gorgeous piece of bling dangling from her neck to really made her sparkle. If You're Feeling Blue...

Since velvet is a big trend right now, I wanted to jump aboard the velvet train before it leaves the station. I have a lovely blue velvet top that I wanted to wear with something that would keep my look dressy, but not take it over the top. I went with a blue monochrome outfit, and I loved the combination of textures! I went with a floral print pair of jeggings that were super comfy! You can buy a pair for yourself here , or by using the link at the bottom this post. I really like the way the two shades of blue looked together. This close-up of the top shows how soft and elegant it is. Isn't it gorgeous? I love blue for winter! You could also do this look for any other season using a different colored top. (Brights for spring/summer or deep colors of nature for fall.) A pair of shiny black peep-toe heels added some sass to the ensemble. (As did my silly giggles.) The top was stretchy, so I was able to create an off the shoulder look, which made me fe...

Fall Colored Casual Bohemian

As much as I enjoy dressing up, sometimes I really look forward to days when I can wear something comfy and casual. I used the cropped sweater in this outfit as the inspiration, and I was going for a casual Bohemian look. I decided to stick to a fall color palette, which also happens to be perfect for my autumn coloring ! I stuck to beige and gold tones, but added a punch of color with a rust orange maxi skirt. I also wore a necklace that I made out of small wooden balls and metal pipes. I love how it coordinated with the outfit and gave a bit of texture to the look! A pair of gold dangly earrings completed the look, and matched the necklace really well. Colorful, Fun & Playful Layers

We're getting closer to winter, and layering weather is far from over. So on a brisk day recently, I tried layering a few pieces to create a colorful, playful look. I loved the emerald green color of the top and the fun chevron print of the bag. Here's how I put this look together. I paired the green top with a casual denim skirt and black footless tights. Open toed heel sandals were the perfect way to complete the look.  I thought it would be cool to tuck the shirt in for a different look, which made the outfit classy and gave the illusion of a longer body frame. It got beyond brisk at one point, which required me to throw on a light denim jacket. It matched the skirt really well, so the ensemble stayed balanced and put together. The bag had a gold chain strap that could be used, so I mixed things up and wore it on my shoulder. Splatter, Blue & Purple

Today was a gloriously beautiful day! It wasn't too hot or too cold, so I decided to wear a pair of comfortable skinny jeans and a light blouse. I pulled the blue from the (splatter print) blouse and made it the focal color of the outfit.   I absolutely love my blue suede shoes (literally), and I wanted to add a pop of one more color. So I grabbed this purple clutch bag that my mom brought me back from Italy. I wore a blue necklace to tie the blue color scheme together. This also added a nice touch of texture and shine.
