Get the Look: Bridgit Mendler

When you become a mother, many things in your life change. One thing that changed for me is the television programming that I watch. And recently, I find myself really invested in the shows on the Disney Channel. One thing that I have noticed while watching the shows is that the wardrobe for many of the tween/teen characters is actually really fabulous! I would love to meet whoever the stylists are. In particular, Bridgit Mendler , who plays Teddy Duncan on the show Good Luck Charlie always looks amazing. And in fact, Mendler herself started a fashion line with Target that was inspired by her onscreen character. The actress-cum-singer/songwriter has (at least so far) done what many young women in entertainment struggle to do: maintain a wholesome yet stylish appearance that is both modest and sexy. In this look, she sports a simple tee with some skinny jeans and adds a hint of sex appeal with those amazingly fun heels. She adds a touch of bling with the bangle bracelets and her lo

Spring 2014 Party Dresses

The holiday rush is finally over, but that doesn't mean that throwing parties is. There are still plenty of reasons to celebrate- birthdays, job promotions, anniversaries and dressing up just because. And with spring officially beginning this week (yay!), it's time to break out the spring party dresses. Whether your style is modest and classy or funky and fun, you can add some Australian flair from SHOWPO to your party wardrobe with this great selection of SHOWPO party dresses . The company has a wide selection of fashion pieces and here are some of my favorites for spring. Luck of the Irish

I have a little bit of Irish in me, but not enough to make a big deal out of it. However, I still always wear green on St. Patrick's Day because I don't like getting pinched! But also, I love green. It's the color of money, ya know. :) So in the spirit of Ireland and Lucky Charms (yummy!), here are some fabulous green pieces to add to your spring wardrobe, if you are running low on green .   See something you want?  Click on the picture to order right from this post! Leather cuffs with embellishments are big this season, so this cuff is a great choice to add to your jewelry/accessories collection. This handbag is a great everyday piece that adds a fun punch of color to your look.  This simple green shirt with subtle stripes is a great everyday piece that you can wear with jeans or a skirt, and the double print jacket is fun and unique! I love the stripes & polka dots combo. This is a versatile choice that you can wear to work or for a day

Designer Spotlight: bird+beau

I had a serendipitous moment recently, discovering that a friend of a friend is an awesome, independent jewelry designer. Kristin Austin is the creative force behind the brand bird+beau , and I asked her to tell me more about her story, her design inspiration and her hopes for the future. L&L: What got you started in jewelry making? B+B: I've made jewelry for as long as I can remember.  I used to make it for myself or as gifts until people started telling me I should sell it.  That was years ago, before Etsy was around, so I put a few items on Ebay, in local shops, and I did a few shows.  I enrolled in metalsmithing at school and worked a part time job at a bead store alongside a goldsmith and my passion for jewelry went from there.  L&L: How did you come up with the name bird+beau? B+B: The name bird+beau was inspired by my reason, me + my fella - and to save money for our wedding day, for our future.  It kind of just came to me one day, driving to wor

Academy Awards 2014

Last night I watched the Academy Awards solely to see how Hollywood rocked it in the style world this year. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. This year I was expecting some colorful, fun ensembles and I did not see much of that. Nonetheless, I have narrowed down my favorites of the night, for both the guys and the girls. #1 Girl-  Kelly Osbourne Photo: Steve Granitz/WireImage Even I am surprised that Kelly Osbourne topped my list, surpassing Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. But she stood out with her gorgeous, form fitting dress. Yes, it is simple, but the touch of shimmer in her lace shrug adds an elegance to the look that intertwines beautifully with her (though unconventional) lavender locks. Honorable mention ladies- Charlize Theron Photo: Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP Charlize, although donned in plain black, was classy a
