"Ringing" in the New Year With Hearts

New Year's Eve is one of the most important nights for fashionistas. It is one of the few times a year we can get away with being over the top with the sparkles, glitter and shine. And this year, one of my favorite themes in fashion has been hearts. The shape continues to grow in popularity, and when it comes to jewelry, hearts add the perfect element of love to an ensemble.

Here I have created three different New Year's Eve outfits, each with a different heart shaped ring from Invaluable, the world's largest online auction marketplace. Isn't it amazing how one little piece of jewelry can tie a whole look together?

Queen of Hearts

Hearts

This look is all about the hearts. A fun winter ruffle dress with hearts, paired with some sassy heeled boots and a simple black clutch go great together, and the diamond heart ring adds a final touch of love to the look. Ring in the new year with this lovable ensemble.

Casual Cashmere

Untitled #335

Even though most New Year's Eve ensembles are all about the glitz and glam, it's ok to tone things down a bit. If you want to be comfy but still represent the heart, wear a cozy cashmere sweater with a fun pleated skirt. Some neutral suede boots and a heart shaped bag will keep the hearts theme going, and of course add some bling with a diamond ladies ring.

 Green 'n Glitter

Untitled #336

If you really want to sparkle this New Year's Eve, get yourself some glittery pieces to pair with a heart shaped ring. When you wear pieces that have texture and leave only one focal piece, you really make a statement. This look draws attention to the ring, since it is the only piece in the ensemble that has a defined shape.

I hope all of you fashionistas have a safe, happy and healthy New Year's!

Outfit Post: A Cozy Cardigan

Happy Monday, fashionistas!

I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful. I had a lovely time reflecting on my many blessings, and stuffing my face with lots of delicious food. Since the weather here was brisk, I decided to wear something comfortable and warm, which resulted in this cozy cardigan ensemble.

I wore some light wash skinny jeans and a plain black long sleeved tee.

I got cozy in this Long Sleeve Knit Aztec Cardigan and threw an infinity scarf around my neck. This cardigan is really comfortable and easy to wear. And now that I am pregnant, I can continue to wear it for the next several months without worrying that my growing bump will stretch it out.

I decided to do some black ankle boots to finish off the look.

5 Trends for Finishing Fall

The best season for fashion is probably fall. While each season brings its own pros & cons, fall is all about mixing & matching, layering and accessorizing. You can really make your boldest fashion statements during the fall. Even though fall is only going to be here for a little longer, these are 5 fall trends that are definitely worth following for the rest of the season.

Wearing Fall Colors
We don't often consider the colors we are wearing when putting together an outfit.
Think about your favorite fruits for fall color inspiration.

Outfit Post: eShakti Chic

I recently got to experience shopping online at eShakti, a place where you can customize your order to fit you. All of their products are available in sizes 0-36W. The process is really quite simple and can be summed up in 3 easy steps:
  • Visit eShakti.com
  • Shop your favorite pieces
  • Customize your order
I happen to be one of the fortunate few women who can generally wear pieces in standard sizes without a problem. However, at eShakti, you can customize your ready-to-wear pieces to fit whatever size you are (simply enter your measurements upon ordering).

I chose a polka dot pleated scoop neck top and ordered it in my size. It fit great and I was able to put together a fun outfit with it. The sash tie belt that came with the top is for the waist, however I created my own look with it (below) in addition to wearing it that way.

I paired the top with some light wash skinny jeans and nude sandals.

I chose a caramel colored handbag and some orange jewelry to match the polka dots.

I got creative with the top by wearing the sash tie belt around my neck and replacing it with a creme colored belt. I love how it totally changed the look with just one simple adjustment!

Outfit Post: Funky Fall

Where I live, the weather is starting to cool down. And even though my summer wardrobe is way cuter than my fall wardrobe, I'm actually looking forward to the weather change. I broke out my first long sleeved shirt of the season and did this "funky fall" look.

I love how this shirt has bright colors on the front and a contrasting print on the back!

Funky shirt + funky girl = balance out the funky with some basic jeans.

I topped off this "funky fall" look with some zebra print flats and a pair of zebra print circular earrings. I thought that was enough jewelry (and zebra) for how much funky there was going on.

A FAUXbulous InVESTment

With fall just around the corner, it's time to start thinking about adding pieces to our wardrobes that add a bit of warmth- literally. The trend I am loving right now is the faux fur vest trend. It is a great way to get in style for fall. Here are a few faux fur vest outfits to inspire you! Which is your favorite?

Outfit on the Street - Eclectic Bohemian

I was recently at a live music festival in downtown Nashville and asked Tatiana about her outfit. I loved her fun bohemian style and her sparkly purse! Plus, she had a great smile and a willing spirit.

Name:  Tatiana
Where: Downtown Nashville Live on the Green music festival

What are you doing out here today?
Just hanging out, enjoying the beautiful day, music, good food.

Do you live in the area?
I do.

What do you do? Are you in school? Do you work?
I work with kids with special needs.

What do you do exactly?
I do language therapy for kids with Downs Syndrome and autism.

That seems challenging but rewarding.
Yeah, I love it.

Tell me about your outfit. Do you know where you got it?
I do. Ok, so this dress came from a random boutique in Florida, like in a beach town. This purse was actually a website find, from Stitch Fix. They just sent me it and I was like, that rocks! Random little ring from a random street artist in Santa Fe.

So do you hit a lot of random, independent boutiquey places a lot?
Yeah, yeah.

What about the earrings?
Same thing. Random fair in Dallas. Like street fair, crafty people.

So you travel a lot?
I guess. Yeah. I do a lot of weekend, small trips.

What else are you up to this weekend?
Maybe some wine tasting later tonight.

Yeah. Just hanging with my friend here, who's being shy. She is in town visiting for the weekend, so we're just hanging.

Where is she from?
Atlanta.

Cool cool. So, if there was one word or phrase you would use to describe your style, is it...
Ooh, I don't know!

Kind of ecclectic?
Eclectic is good.
Looks over to friend
How would I describe my style?
Friend responds ,laughing, "slutty"
She's actually described her style that way as a joke. I think it's eclectic, yeah.

I kind of get like a Bohemian type vibe.
Yeah, sometimes. I mix up Bohemian, but sometimes I go more glamorous, like sparkles.

So do you like to dress up a lot when you go out?
Mmm hmm.

So this is more of a casual weekend look?
Day, casual, yeah.
