Divas & Dates

It's a new year and you know what that means- a fresh start to the dating scene for all those singles searching for love. A large part of being successful in dating is presenting yourself at your best, especially in the beginning. I've heard it said that a man knows in the first 30 seconds of meeting a woman whether or not he wants to see her again. That being said, I have put together two different date ensembles- one for daytime and one for evening- that are sure to impress any date. The daytime date look is ideal for casual dates like meeting for coffee, going to a movie, having lunch or visiting a museum. You don't want to overdo it for a daytime date but you still want to look your best. First impressions are important in the dating game and can sometimes be the "make it or break it" moment for your date.

This daytime date look is fun and comfortable with just a pop of color. A nice pair of jeans, a solid, comfy blouse and colorful accessories make up this look. If you decide to go colorful with the accessories, make sure to have some neutrals in the look to balance it out. For this look, I chose a neutral handbag and for those in cooler climates, a neutral jacket. The necklace, earrings and shoes provide the fun colors. It's ok to have colors and/or prints for a daytime look, but don't overdo it. The look should stay as simple as possible, while also maintaining an edgy, fun appearance.

Daytime Date

For the evening look, you also want to have simplicity with a touch of glam. This look would be great for a nice dinner out, a night at the symphony or going to a wine bar. While your wardrobe should be a reflection of your personal style, you also don't want to take away from the ultimate fashion accessory of the evening- you! When you do too much with an outfit, it distracts your date from the beautiful woman he is out with. This ensemble lets you look and feel great without taking the attention away from you as a person.

Select a solid cocktail dress and accessorize with some shimmer and shine. I chose gold for this look, but you can use any pop of sparkle that you have. Make sure you select a dress that shows some skin but doesn't reveal too much. You want your date to know that you are classy but mysterious. A simple gold heel, complemented by gold jewelry and a gold clutch, create the "pop" for this look. For those living in a cooler climate, add a nice evening jacket.
